The Human Mind & Usability session was so informative. It centered on the psychology of the user and how we process information. Throughout the day, we were challenged with mental exercises to show how we as designers are the same, even if we don’t realize it.
We were tested with watching the invisible gorilla test. Tell your user to count the amount of times the white team passes it to each other. Afterwards, ask them if they saw the gorilla. Ask them if they noticed the curtain color change. Most will be so focused on the task, that they won’t have seen it. The video is below.
Other exercises presented were how we process information differently, and how we associate and recall information into memory. I was on fire tweeting a lot of this session, so here are some of the notes I took, but I learned a lot!
